My Teaching Philosophy
As a teacher, my main objective is to make sure my students learn the course material throughout the school year. By learning the material, I do not mean simply memorizing it, but fully understanding the information. Then once they understand it, I want them to be able to apply it to actual life situations in their own creative way. Creativity is something that I will push for daily in my classroom with activities that allow the students to think outside of the box. Creativity will be seen as a part of learning and a skill, and students will be applauded for solving problems in different ways. In order for the students to do this, I feel it is necessary for them to feel comfortable in the classroom. In my opinion, creativity is something that needs to be shared and praised upon by classmates. That is why I have chosen to have the desk in my classroom set up in groups. This gives the students a friendlier environment allowing them to work together. Group work allows the students to help and push each other to do better. Although a desk arrangement like this can cause students to get distracted more easily, I think the benefits overrule this. The atmosphere in my classroom will allow the students to feel comfortable which will promote their attitude towards learning.
